WV Grant Resource Centers to offer training at Small Communities, Big Solutions Conference
The West Virginia Grant Resource Centers are pleased to offer an exclusive grant writing workshop at the sixth annual Small Communities, Big Solutions Conference on November 8-9, 2023, at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, West Virginia.
Led by Morgan Saunders, co-director of the WVGRC, and Emily Brammer, WVGRC grant writer, the Grants 101 Workshop will kick off the conference on Wednesday from 12:30-4:30 p.m. Saunders and Brammer will share valuable insights as they explore each phase of the grant writing and assembly processes. The workshop will provide an unparalleled educational opportunity for participants to find grants, strengthen proposals, maximize community partnerships, develop budgets and narratives, optimize sustainability and think like a proposal reviewer.
Through this interactive and immersive workshop experience, Sara Payne Scarbro, associate vice president for Government Relations at Marshall University and WVGRC principal investigator, said the WVGRC aims to empower attendees with the skills they need to effectively communicate their needs and craft compelling and competitive proposals.
“Each year, the Small Communities, Big Solutions Conference conference welcomes leaders and changemakers from across the state who have great ideas that can move our state forward. The Grants 101 Workshop will empower West Virginia organizations to compete for grant funding and bring these great ideas to life,” Scarbro said.
“The Grants 101 Workshop presented by the West Virginia Grant Resource Centers is an exciting opportunity to engage in knowledge and expertise brought by grant writers with years of experience. We are a driving force with a mission to build grant writing capacity across the state of West Virginia. This workshop, uniquely tailored and individualized to our audience is a chance to learn the ins and outs of writing a competitive grant proposal. With ample opportunity for Q and A’s as well as unique breakout sessions, Grants 101 is not just informative, but constructive,” Saunders said.
