The West Virginia Grant Resource Centers’ team is thrilled to share our 2025 Annual Impact Report! This Annual Impact Report captures not only the Grant Centers’ collective three-year progress, but provides an in-depth look into the services, trainings, and outreach we provided in 2025.

Between January 2023 and December 2025, the Grant Centers have made tremendous strides in expanding project development and grant writing capabilities statewide. Our team assisted clients in securing more than $52 million in project funding across West Virginia, hosted 105 technical assistance trainings, and connected more than 10,000 individuals with grant resources.

With each annual impact report, we can see our growth, success, and outreach multiplying. In 2025 alone, we celebrated the following developments, including:

  • Assisting clients with securing 49 funding awards to support various projects prioritizing economic development, community development and outdoor recreation, workforce development, site and infrastructure development, and job creation and retention.
  • Supporting the creation and sustainment of 111 jobs in West Virginia through client awards.
  • Realizing a 225% increase in client proposal submissions between our first and third years of operation.

Our 2025 Impact: Expanded

In addition to our technical assistance services, the Grant Centers hosted 33 training events in 2025, directly upskilling 1,582 individuals. These trainings consisted of 12 Grants 101 Workshops, 19 Live Grant Assistance Sessions, and 2 Microcredential Courses (Essentials of Grant Writing and Advanced Grant Writing). From speaking engagements to exhibiting, our team also participated in more than 40 outreach events, including our first Community Connection Mobile Sessions, 10 of which were hosted in partnership with the WV One Stop Business Center.

As a Universities United project — a collaborative partnership between Marshall University and West Virginia University — the Grant Centers were designed to help identify and bridge gaps in statewide project development abilities. Through our one-on-one technical assistance and training support, we’ve had the privilege of engaging with more than 900 unique entities since 2023, including small communities, nonprofits, small businesses, and other grant-eligible organizations.

In 2026, our state’s demonstrated need for grant writing support continues, and so too does our passion for empowering West Virginians to achieve their project goals. We are humbled by our clients’ trust and grateful for the steadfast support of our funding partners — the Appalachian Regional Commission and the State of West Virginia — both of whom have made our project possible.

Our team is tremendously proud of our 2025 progress, and we’re ecstatic to be continuing this critical work. We look forward to supporting and elevating the skills of more West Virginians in 2026 and beyond!
